Deciphering a product sheet before buying
The product page is all you have to judge an item you cannot touch or try on. Reading it carefully avoids disappointing purchases, the wrong model, or the wrong size. Photos, specifications, availability, reviews: every section has its pitfalls and information not to be missed.
Read beyond the title
Specifications and compatibility
The title sells, the specifications inform. Scroll down to the dimensions, material, exact version, or stated compatibility. An ignored technical detail is the number one cause of an unsuitable purchase, from a cable in the wrong format to an accessory incompatible with your device.
What photos show, and hide
Visuals are polished to entice, and are sometimes retouched or generic. Look for photos from several angles, in a real-world setting, or showing scale. A single perfect image, without a real view of the product, calls for caution. Photos attached by buyers are often worth more than the seller's.
Verify before confirming
Availability and actual lead time
"In stock" and "shipped within 24 hours" do not always mean the same thing. Identify the actual delivery time, which is distinct from the stated availability. An item announced as available but shipped in several weeks warrants checking the timeframe before purchasing, especially for an urgent order.
Finding the record of a past purchase
The records of your previous orders remain accessible in your help and account management area. This is useful for reordering the same item, comparing a new version, or checking an exact reference. It is also where you will find the specifications useful for a warranty claim.
Cross-check sources
Reviews attached to the product
Reviews supplement the product page by highlighting what the seller glosses over: fragility, small sizing, disappointing battery life. Read negative reviews as much as positive ones. A defect repeated in several comments is more reliable than a flattering feature announced by the seller alone.
Ask a question about the product
Is a point on the product page unclear? The contact page allows you to ask the seller questions before buying, regarding compatibility or a specific dimension. A question asked before purchase costs less than organizing a return afterward. The quality of the response also informs you about the merchant's reliability.
After receipt
Product does not match the page
An item different from its description—size, color, version—constitutes non-compliance. Support handles these discrepancies, with the page and photos of the received item as evidence. The description is binding: a product that does not match it entitles you to a return or replacement at no cost.
Product page and subscription replenishment
For consumables, the page sometimes indicates an automatic replenishment option via a subscription. Check that the reference and frequency match your actual usage before activating it, to avoid accumulating a product delivered faster than you consume it.
